My name is Sydnie (or Sih-Ni / 思霓), and I’m a senior studying Human Factors Engineering and Computer Science. In Chinese, my name actually means “to think” and “colorful lights”, which perfectly reflects who I want to be as a designer -- someone who crafts colorful solutions to everyday problems by thinking outside the box.
I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan, but I’m currently studying at Tufts University in Medford, MA.
My design communities~
I got into design quite late (I used to study neuroscience 🫢), so I will forever be thankful to the friends and mentors that helped me jumpstart this journey. I decided to pay it forward by heavily involving myself in the design communities on campus to support underclassmen who may be struggling like I was. I am:
Head of Operations @ Product Studio
I made my first completed project (DaySync) at Producthon, a product design hackathon. Now I help run and plan the event!
Senior Rep @ Human Factors Society
I joined as a junior to meet others in my new major. Now, I help run events including Figma workshops and portfolio reviews.
UX Research Lead @ IDEA Lab
After my mentors graduated, I stepped in to lead my team in researching and designing an ergonomic grip for dental explorers.
